Aside from Sandi Patty, Amy Grant would be the first female Christian artist I was introduced to. I heard several of her older albums like Age to Age, Unguarded, and Father’s Eyes on a big floor vinyl player at my grandparents house in the early 90s.
I’ve never been a super fan of her entire albums, but have enjoyed many of her individual songs throughout the years. I had a chance to meet her at a signing event when I worked at Lifeway Christian Bookstore for a few years. Super sweet human being. Here are my Top 20 Songs of 20 Artists for musical legend Amy Grant.

Happy listening! – Josh
Ah Josh. I was wondering if (and very hoping) you would include Amy. I got the single of Baby Baby as a new christian and the B side on the Cassingle was Lead me on. Life and music taste was never the same again. And we agree on number 1 for the first time Josh. I am however a big fan of all her work and if push came to shove, Amy Grant is my favorite artist of all time, any genre, and age (age to age?).
This has been the toughest list. Living in Australia I have never been to a concert, its love and admiration from afar. Here we go.
20. Now and not yet (Straight ahead) – Piano and raw – great place for Amy to be.
19. Arms of love (age to age) – See above.
18. Dont run away (Age to age). Longest intro ever! Timeless
17. Overnight (Somewhere down the road) – Great pop tune with great words
16. Our love (House of love). the only great moment on this album is haunting and understated.
15. Baby Baby (heart in motion). Has to be here for the turning point it had on my life
14. Shovel in hand (How mercy). If you dont know it, listen to it now and get the feels. Brutal
13. All I ever have to (Collection) – I remember when I got to an age when I got this revelation. Boom. Song imprint on heart.
12. Faithless heart (Lead me on) Love it when Amy gets real.
11. Find a way (Unguarded) 80s pop fun
10. If these walls could speak (Lead me on) Understated and mellow, sad and honest.
9. Breath of heaven (Home for Christmas) Stunning piano tune I love every year.
8. Your not alone (Heart in motion). Rockiest song on the album was AWESOME
7. Alright (Lead me on) Still one of the best bridge/choruses build up I have heard in my life.
6. Beautiful (Simple things) – Took me ages to like it. LOVED it ever since.
5. How can we see that far – Heart in Motions albums track were often better than the singles
4. Innocence lost (Simple Things) – Never has she been more vulnerable in a highly underrated album.
3. Emmanual, God with us (Home for Christmas) Has been a part of my life every year since early 90s.Stunning.
2. Stay for a while. (the collection) Have always found this so relatable since like 10.
1. Lead me on (Lead me on) Simply one to the greatest songs ever.
So glad you did this so I could wrestle over these songs and just enjoy them again.

Though it’s my wife that’s the real AG stan, I love this list. If I had an addition, it would probably be “Good For Me” or “Stay For A While”, but allow me to be serious–and hopefully not self-promoting–for just a moment. This story happened (I know because I lived it):

“Lead Me On” was already my favorite Amy Grant song, but of course this permanently changed how I hear it. I’m often the first guy to talk about how Christian music can be a lot of marketing, typecasting and pigeonholing.
But I often ignore that, even with the flaws, the songs written by gifted people that describe their own faith journeys can impact people and minister to hearts. Little ones included.

Thanks for sharing that story! I can see why that song has such a special place in your heart…I love how music marks some of our biggest melodies be they happy, sad, or in-between.
