1. Caedmon’s Call – Long Line of Leavers

2000 was a good year for Christian music! I’ll have to question one very notable omission (my #1!), and admit that I’ve never listened to Emotion is Dead. I’ll have to rectify that over the next few days. Here my quickfire top 10:
#10 Invincible (Skillet) – back in the day Skillet was great fun (I was still fully on board for 2 more albums after this).
#9 Long Line of Leavers (Caedmon’s Call) – this album meant a lot to me lyrically.
#8 Offerings: A Worship Album (Third Day) – the original “rock band does a worship album” for me, and the album itself is still great to listen to. I didn’t realise that they’d never again sound as fresh as on Conspiracy #5 and Time after this though…
#7 Loud & Clear (The O.C. Supertones) – the first half of this album is the Supertones at the peak of their powers. “Return of the Revolution” was my favourite to go crazy to live, and “Wilderness” is my all-time favourite song of theirs.
#6 Freedom (Michael W. Smith) – this is the only Michael W. Smith album I’m really familiar with, I probably play it about once a month.
#5 Learning to Breathe (Switchfoot) – for some reason this hasn’t aged as well for me as other early Switchfoot albums, but it’s still full of great tunes.
#4 Carried Along (Andrew Peterson) – wonderful debut album, he’s definitely the Elisha to Rich’s Elijah. For me he has only surpassed this one once, with Light for the Lost Boy.
#3 Shimmer (Luna Halo) – great blend of rock and worship, would have loved to hear more from them.
#2 Kaleidoscope Superior (Earthsuit) – I’m still a big fan of their unique blend of rap-rock-reggae, and was excited when Paul Meany reappeared with Mutemath, who became one of my favourite bands.
#1 Glo (delirious) – this is still my favourite worship album of all time. I’ll let you off for not including it in your 100 greatest CCM albums, but if it’s not good enough for this list then we need to talk – is it the silly suits? 🙂
Blessings, Chris

Daaaang. I forgot about Delirious. Sheesh. Well, I guess my weak sauce defense is I stopped listening to them shortly after their debut in 1998 with deeper on it. I checked in on select songs but had loved on to other bands/artists. That’s not to say they weren’t doubt wonderful stuff I just missed a lot of it. A thousand pardons my good man!

Consider yourself pardoned 🙂 I sometimes go off the boil with bands for no particular reason too. Mezzamorphis and glo are their strongest albums in my opinion, with The Mission Bell a very strong later-career entry…
Had a look over at your 50 songs for 2020, will have to make use of your spotify list as I’ve only heard about 10 of them so far (Citizens is an incredible song!) Thanks for putting this stuff out man, it’s super helpful!
Blessings, Chris
